Keystone is kaput because Washington is Saudi Arabia’s BITCH

President Barack Obama cut short his trip to democratic India five weeks ago after giving that nation a lecture on human rights. In Delhi he challenged its leaders to do more to protect religious minorities and encourage women in Indian society. Unfortunately, Obama had to climb down from his high horse on human rights and rush off on Air Force One to the Mecca of human rights abuses.

The saying “if the mountain won’t come to Muhammad, then Muhammad must go to the mountain” is apt because Obama brought a delegation of 27 Washington insiders to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The group included Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and several veterans of Republican administrations, including two former secretaries of state, James A. Baker III and Condoleezza Rice.

Others from the Obama administration who joined the delegation included Secretary of State John Kerry; Susan Rice, the current national security adviser and former ambassador to the United Nations; John O. Brennan, the director of the CIA; and Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III, who oversees Middle East operations.

Additionally, there were Democratic members of Congress, including Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California, Rep. Ami Bera of California and Reps. Eliot L. Engel and Joseph Crowley of New York.

These key political power brokers were in Riyadh to pay their respects to the late King Abdullah, a man who, according to Obama, “in his own fashion presented some modest reform efforts within the kingdom.”

I’m not sure what those reforms were, but I expect they were modest — perhaps making beheading swords sharper before each execution. And while Obama had just been lecturing India on human rights, his mouth was zipped shut when it came to Saudi blogger Raif Badawi, who was sentenced to 1,000 lashes and 10 years in prison last year for “insulting Islam through electronic channels” and “going beyond the realm of obedience.”

That didn’t stop McCain from eulogizing Abdullah as “a vocal advocate for peace, speaking out against violence in the Middle East.” Kerry said the late king was “a brave partner in fighting violent extremism and a proponent of peace.”

Peace? Kerry knows for a fact that Abdullah was allowing some 70,000 Saudi royals worth an estimated $1.5 trillion to funnel tens of millions of dollars to Islamists, whoops I mean extremists that are today targeting Americans.

I don’t know what our government wants to invest more on, preventing future terrorist attacks or backing those that will spark the next one. What I do know is that Obama is covered with Saudi blood money and that he is just one in a string of presidents that has blindly supported the House of Saud since 1945. What I didn’t know is why the kit and caboodle in government are also backing Saudi Arabia in full measure.

Obama and his entourage were also there to celebrate the accession to the throne of the new Saudi Arabia ruler, King Salman. Can you imagine the size of the carbon footprint caused by all those Washington politicians flying to and fro?

At least Obama has done one thing right this year; he finally gave the Keystone Pipeline the coup de grâce with his veto of the project after keeping it up in the air for six years.

Keystone is dead for now, and some people are wondering why. Keystone XL is an extension of an already existing oil pipeline that stretches from Alberta to the Gulf Coast.

On Feb. 27, The Daily Caller published an opinion piece from freelance writer Greg Jones, who wrote:

First, there were the usual environmental challenges; that XL will only increase our dependence on oil and therefore exacerbate “climate change.” Yet this very argument was emphatically refuted by Obama’s own State Department, which concluded that the Keystone extension would be CO2-neutral.

With more than 2.5 million miles of oil pipeline running through the United States, the argument that 1,200 more would somehow prove catastrophic is peculiar to say the least. Why on Earth would Obama veto what is essentially a fraction of existing pipeline that would not only give Americans cheaper oil, but create more than 40,000 jobs in the process?

In a nutshell, the president rushed out of India where he had been lecturing to a democratic government, landed in Saudi Arabia with a gaggle of who’s who in politics and exclaimed: The king is dead; long live the king! There was nary a protest about how the Saudi monarch treated his people, how being gay would get you a death sentence or how the religious police can round up women who are not accompanied by a man and throw them in jail. Oh, yes, Washington Democrats don’t seem too married to their principles. In January, 16 people were beheaded in Saudi Arabia; last year, 83 people were beheaded.

Yet Obama vetoed Keystone because “it will only increase our dependence on oil” and then he picks up with his merry band of officials in Saudi Arabia, the world’s kingpin oil producer.

Top 10 reasons Canada is better than Saudi Arabia

1. Canada has less carbon emissions per capita than does Saudi Arabia, according to a United Nations Millennium study in 2010. Saudi Arabia gets an exemption for its carbon production because it is a “developing nation.” That is like saying Berkshire Hathaway is a startup.
2. Canada does not provide funding to jihadists.
3. No Canadian citizens were involved in 9/11. Fifteen of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens.
4. Canada has due process and does not behead the convicted. In fact, Democrats should love Canada because it does not have a death penalty.
5. Canada lets women drive, lets women be unaccompanied in public without a man and doesn’t force women to cover their faces in public. Canada even lets women ride bicycles.
6. Canada doesn’t have a religious police that run like gangs through the streets to enforce Christian laws.
7. In Canada, American professionals don’t have to work and live inside concrete fortresses patrolled by guards armed with 50-caliber machine guns to keep jihadists from overrunning them.
8. In Canada there is a parliamentary system that, during the past century, voted to provide military support to the United States in every major military conflict except Vietnam and Iraq.
9. Canada was the only nation that offered to help the U.S. Embassy staff during the 1979 Iranian Revolution, putting their own lives at risk to see that some escaped.
10. Canada loves all things American, especially beer and baseball. In Saudi Arabia the term “double-header” takes on a whole new meaning.
